Run by General Manager Michael Foti and owned by his father, these longtime Wayne residents have operated this franchise fitness center for the past three years.

Recently voted “Best Gym in Wayne” by members of Wayne, Retro Fitness provides members with access to 60 LifeFitness cardio machines with individual HDTV screens, as well as circuit training machines and Hammer Strength/Intek free weights.  The center’s 2nd floor mezzanine level offers a heavy bag, more cardio equipment and plenty of free space for abdominal and stretching workouts.  Flat screen TVs are available on both floors for viewing during your workout.  With so much equipment, General Manager Michael Foti says, “members never have to wait to use a machine.”

For those looking for group exercise classes, Retro Fitness began offering Zumba®, Step, Bootcamp, Pilates, and Yoga in September 2012.  These classes are housed in the facility’s new 500 sq. ft. classroom and are included at no additional charge.  Classes are slated for both AM and PM sessions, and additional classes will be added as the need arises.  Class schedules will be available on Retro Fitness’ Facebook page by visiting

Retro Fitness also offers certified personal trainers for one-on-one or group training classes.  Retro Fitness’ personal trainers will work to improve your cardiovascular and pulmonary functions, enhance your mobility and functional movement, strengthen your weight loss program, provide body building training, sports conditioning and help with achieving your fitness goals.  The center’s in-house personal training manager has over 20 years of industry experience, helping patrons from all fitness backgrounds.  Trainers are available to accommodate member schedules.

For a unique workout experience at a fitness club, members have access to the club’s Retro Theater Room.  In the darkened room, new movies run daily while members can use treadmills, elliptical and cycling machines.  A Virtual Cardio Trainer is offered once per month.

In addition to the Retro Theater, Retro Fitness offers other amenities, such as its own Retro Blends® Juice Bar for shakes and smoothies tailored for pre- and post-workout regiments and two stand-up tanning booths.  A wheelchair accessible ramp allows members to access the first floor of the gym, which includes everything needed to accomplish your workout, as well as the theater, tanning booths, juice bar and locker rooms complete with lockers, showers, bathrooms and changing facilities.

“We want our members to feel comfortable at Retro Fitness,” says Foti.  “Our friendly staff is really into fitness and helping our members out.  You can have our assistance with the equipment or come in and do your own thing.  With over 60 cardio machines, there is never a wait to use the equipment.  We offer a small gym feel with all the latest equipment.”

Monthly membership at Retro Fitness is $19.99, with a one time enrollment fee of $99. For the month of September 2012, the enrollment fee has been waived.  “For the price and for what we offer, we can’t be beat,” says Foti.  “We haven’t sacrificed quality, and our $19.99 monthly fee never changes.”  In fact, the low monthly payment includes access to over 80 different Retro Fitness locations, most of which are in New Jersey.  This is ideal for the business or recreational traveler who wishes to continue his or her fitness routine while away from home.

Retro Fitness is open from 5 am to 11 pm on Monday-Thursday, 5 am to 10 pm on Friday and 7 am to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday, offering some of the latest gym hours in the area.  For more information, contact Retro Fitness at (973) 389-9003 or visit the web at
